1. Go to template
2. click edit template
3. Proceed
4. do not click expand widget
5. CTRL and F to find <b:widget id='Blog1' locked='true' title='Blog Posts' type='Blog'/>
6. Copy and paste <b:widget id='HTML1' locked='false' title='' type='HTML'/> just below above line. Where 1 can be changed any unique number 1 and onwards like 11 or 12 or 9 or 7 etc which depends upon the previous HTML gadgets in the template.
7. save the template.
8. now you will have widget section and you can add element like random posts or popular posts or recent posts or subscription button etc.
Check this blog for demo where random posts are put in the widget section after hacking the simple template.
