Best medical colleges in Nepal

Choosing the best college and becoming a part of that community is what every student dreams and desires. Furthermore, studying medicine in the best medical college is somewhat a higher pursuit.

Availability of experts on different fields, on going researches and clinical trials, modern technologies, competitive environment, number of hospital beds, patient flow, level of patient care and patient satisfaction, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions available, rate of referral to higher centers, graduate satisfaction, job opportunity and whereabouts of graduate besides so many other factors should be considered to designate how good a medical college is.

I recently came across the lists of medical colleges in Nepal prepared and presented in webpages which were somehow incomplete and unjustified. The information is somehow misleading and incongruent to the prevailing ideas and facts about the medical colleges of Nepal.

This blogger is trying to list the medical colleges of Nepal on the basis of competition on entrance exams, students first choice, patient’s choice for care, number of hospital beds, level of expertise, rate of referral of patients from and in, year of establishment, cost of studying (from admission till the graduation), curriculum, assessments and examination in different phases, performance of graduate in the field. However, due to technical difficulties and unavailability of pertinent data, exact figure is not written in this blog. Anyone who is willing to share the idea or data is welcome.

This blog will serve as a list of current medical colleges in Nepal as well as the (probable) rank of them.

  1. I wonder how much different attending a medical school in Nepal would be compared to a school in the United States. Anyone been to both and have any feedback?

    1. The academic environment is different (Mostly problem based learning and community based curriculum). Even poorest of the people have accessibility to the medical education, and for free under merit based scholarship. The government would help financially if needed on top of that. Internship is a sort of mandatory everywhere. Internship consists of rotation through all major specialty: Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Gyne-Obs, ENT, Orthopedics.

  2. The logo of KIST Medical College is not the correct one. You can get it through www.kistmcth.edu.np.
